Per-Ingvar Brånemark (1929-2014), is an orthopedic surgeon and research professor, Swedish inventor, originally from Gothenburg. He is often presented as the "father of modern implantology" because he is the inventor of titanium dental implants, and more generally of bone-anchored prostheses in the field of anaplastology. He notably received the “European Inventor Award” and appears in the prestigious “National Inventors Hall of Fame”.
